Update on Playground Repairs

The Trustees have been busy repairing and upgrading various aspects of infrastructure around the Gratton.

First off you’ll have seen the Multi-play equipment fenced off. We are replacing two of the platform boards, one of which has been done, and other is on order, as well as one of the steps.

Meanwhile we have completed the removal of a damaged backboard on one of the basketball hoops, and successfully painted both to restore the target markings.

In addition the Trustees have decided to invest in replacement and more resilient picnic benches. The benches themselves are currently in front of the pavilion and will be utilised during Grattonbury.

The benches are made out recycled plastic shopping bags, and so should fare better over the years than their wooden predecessors.

Perhaps more exciting though is the new surfaces these benches will be going on. Currently there are stone chippies that provide the base for them. However, these pose a risk to the lawnmower and others nearby if they’re thrown on to the grass. The Trust has invested in a new rubber surfacing, just like the one under the table tennis table, eliminating the risk of flying stones.

The benches shall be relocated to their new permanent locations after Grattonbury. We hope you all enjoy them.
